It comes as a follow up to this (new?) sub-genre consisting of US bands with a minimum number of members and a sort of secrecy around them. Just like the Cults and the Guards, TASHAKI MIYAKI started to post their nostalgic tunes on bandcamp.
Unlike their counterparts, TASHAKI MIYAKI's lo-fi sounds a bit darker with influences mainly from the 80's shoegaze scene. This, along with the female vocals and the the tribute the california duo pays to 60's pop, creates a rather interesting mixture. Something like Phil Spector produces a record for Jesus and the Mary Chain.
