PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.
It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.
In 2008, Pecha Kucha came also to Athens, thanks to the Sokoro team (Martha Giannakopoulou, John and Markos Douridas). Since 2008, they have organized three Pecha Kucha Nights in Athens
with great success. I was asked to design and implement the official website for the Pecha Kucha nights in Athens which should contain all the related info for the past events. I started to design a grid-based layout which would enable a neat presentation of the content. From that perspective and in order to add a more playful and dynamic notion to the overall experience I kept everything organized in one, single webpage where the user could move up and down in order to explore the content.
